Anthropic has raised $65 billion in Series H funding, pushing its post-money valuation to $965 billion and overtaking OpenAI as the world’s most valuable private AI company. The round was co-led by Altimeter Capital, Dragoneer, Greenoaks, Sequoia Capital, Capital Group, Coatue, D1 Capital Partners, GIC, ICONIQ and XN.

Other investors included Baillie Gifford, Blackstone, Brookfield, D.E. Shaw Ventures, DST Global, Fidelity Management & Research Company, General Catalyst, Insight Partners, Jane Street, Lightspeed Venture Partners, MGX, NTTVC, NX1 Capital, Situational Awareness LP, T. Rowe Price Associates, T. Rowe Price Investment Management and Temasek. The total includes $15 billion of previously committed investments, of which $5 billion came from Amazon.

The Series H arrives three months after Anthropic raised $30 billion in Series G funding. Strategic infrastructure partners Micron, Samsung and SK hynix joined the investor group, bringing memory, storage and logic chip technologies into the mix.

Anthropic makes Claude, a conversational AI chatbot used across healthcare, life sciences and other industries. It plans to use the fresh capital to advance AI research, expand compute power for Claude, and scale its products and partnerships.

“Claude is increasingly indispensable to our growing global community of customers, and we work tirelessly to make tools like Claude Code and Cowork more helpful, more powerful, and more adaptable to their needs,” Krishna Rao, the chief financial officer, said in a statement. “This funding will help us serve the historic demand we are experiencing, stay at the research frontier, and bring Claude to more of the places where work happens.”

The funding highlights the growing appetite for AI infrastructure, though some industry observers caution that such valuations depend on continued adoption and revenue growth. Anthropic’s focus on safety and alignment has set it apart from competitors, but the race to deploy generative AI at scale remains capital-intensive.

Last week, the company announced an enterprise-wide deal with Bristol Myers Squibb to deploy Claude across the pharma giant’s research, manufacturing, corporate, clinical development and commercial functions. The life sciences company said the deployment will focus on implementing Claude Code within engineering and data science teams, embedding agents into workflows, and connecting Claude to BMS’s “institutional knowledge.”

In May, Anthropic partnered with the Gates Foundation on a $200 million, four-year initiative to provide funding, API credits and technical support to governments building freely available AI tools for healthcare, education and agriculture.

During the JPM Healthcare Conference in San Francisco in January, it launched Claude for Healthcare, a HIPAA-ready AI platform designed for providers, payers and patients. It runs on the Claude Opus 4.5 model and supports regulatory submissions, prior authorizations, coding and claims management, and care coordination through integrations with CMS databases, ICD-10 and the National Provider Identifier Registry.

That same month, the firm teamed up with international biotech company Genmab to build custom Claude-powered agentic AI capabilities aligned with Genmab’s research and development processes. The companies said Claude will be used by Genmab’s team for data processing, analysis and document generation to assist with operational activities and improve consistency across clinical programs.

The rapid expansion of Claude into healthcare and pharmaceuticals reflects a broader push by AI companies to embed their models into regulated, high-stakes environments. Anthropic’s valuation now surpasses that of OpenAI, which was valued at roughly $300 billion in a recent funding round. Whether the company can sustain that lead depends on its ability to turn massive infrastructure spending into lasting customer relationships.
